Alexander Technique - One Day Introduction with Stephanie Smith

The Alexander Technique is the perfect system for the 21st century lifestyle. Find out more about this unique and thoughtful approach to poor posture, chronic pain, stress and tension through a day of demonstrations, discussion and gentle experiential exercises.

Students will learn through discussion, observation and practical activities and demonstrations.

Topics to be covered include:
  • Alexander's own story.
  • A look at gravity.
  • Understanding our design in relation to our use and functioning.
  • The relationship of the head, neck and back.
  • Primary Control.
  • Self observation.
  • Recognition of the force of habit.
  • Recognition of faulty sensory appreciation.
  • The meaning of fitness.
  • Lying down in semi-supine position.


Students should wear comfortable clothing and bring a blanket or something to lie on while on the floor and three or four thin paperback books.

IT IS IMPORTANT TO REALISE THAT THIS IS AN INTRODUCTORY COURSE AND CANNOT BE A SUBSTITUTE FOR ONE-TO-ONE LESSONS
